The Deep Dive: Zero-torque putters have quickly gone from a niche curiosity to one of the hottest categories in golf equipment. Dare we say, they’ve gone mainstream. Tour Edge clearly believes the trend has enough staying power to justify an entire family of models rather than a single experiment.

The new Zero T lineup includes four models that are all built around the same central concept: positioning the shaft axis so it intersects the putter’s center of gravity (CG) location to reduce face rotation during the stroke and help enhance consistency.

That idea has become increasingly popular because many golfers struggle to consistently return the putter face square at impact. Traditional blade and mallet putters naturally rotate open and closed during the stroke, but zero-torque designs attempt to minimize that movement and create a more stable, repeatable motion.

While the technology story is similar across the lineup, Tour Edge differentiated the four models primarily through shape, alignment systems and moment of inertia (MOI) values.

The ZT-1 is a compact mallet with a short middle line on the topline and a pair of longer alignment lines that extend to the back of the head to guide your eyes toward the target line. The ZT-2 uses a more rounded mallet shape with a contrasting topline that makes the hitting area stand out. The ZT-3 has a squared-off frame intended to help golfers visually frame the ball easily and the ZT-4 is the largest, most stable model in the lineup. It has a rounded back section, golf-ball-size cutout and contrasting colors along with the highest MOI in the family.

The faces of the ZT putters vary slightly, with the ZT-1, ZT-2 and ZT-3 built from cast 304 stainless steel and featuring horizontally milled faces intended to promote consistent contact and roll. The ZT-4 moves in a softer-feeling direction with an aluminum body and a TPU insert.

Tour Edge is also making the series accessible from a pricing standpoint. At $199.99, the Zero T putters are significantly below many competing zero-torque models that now regularly sell in the $400 – $600 range.

All four models will be offered in 34-inch, 35-inch and 38-inch configurations. The standard-length versions come with oversized pistol grips, while the longer model uses a 16-inch extended grip designed to add stability and accommodate arm-lock-style setups.

With the ZT family, Tour Edge’s approach appears to focus less on reinventing the category and more on making the technology more approachable and far more affordable than many current alternatives.

TINLEY PARK, Ill., April 28, 2026 — Bettinardi Golf today announced the Limited Line Extension AntidoteHexperimental #7 and Hexperimental #9, the first heel-shafted putters ever built around the brand’s SimplyBalanced™ Zero-Torque Technology.

The Hexperimental #7 features a compact mallet profile with a ball-sized rectangular cutout that shifts massto the perimeter for added stability and alignment, while the Hexperimental #9 is a high-toe, traditional wide-body blade design. Both models share a modified plumber’s neck with minimal onset, delivering the look and feel of a traditional heel-shafted putter, now with zero torque.

 Since its introduction, Simply Balanced™ Technology has been limited to center-shafted designs. The Hexperimental #7 and #9 change that by aligning the shaft axis directly in line with the putter’s center of gravity, minimizing torque while achieving less onset. The result is a face that stays square through the stroke while preserving the classic heel-shafted putter profile.

Both models are precision-milled in-house from 303 Stainless Steel and feature Bettinardi’s re-engineered F.I.T.Face™ (Feel Impact Technology) milling, removing 30% of the face material to produce a soft, responsive feel at impact. Each putter comes paired with a matte black shaft and a Bettinardi Black Hex PU grip in jumbo or standard size. Both models are crafted with a Black Armor TPT finish on the topline and flange, with DistressedBlue accents on the face and sole.

What you should know: Bettinardi introduced Simply Balanced Zero-Torque Technology roughly 18 months ago, but these putters are the first heel-shafted offerings that have the brand’s zero-torque performance.

The Deep Dive: Most golfers, if asked what makes a putter miss, will point to their stroke. Alignment. Nerves. The yips. Rarely does anyone blame physics. But physics is always involved.

Every putter generates torque, a predisposition for the putter’s face to rotate based on its geometry and weight distribution. Some manage it well enough to be decent putters, while others don’t manage it at all.

Bettinardi’s Simply Balanced putters address the problem structurally. By aligning the shaft axis through the putter’s center of gravity (CG), the technology removes the rotational force before it starts, so the face stays square to the stroke’s path without the golfer doing anything extra to make that happen.

The engineering challenge is this alignment is relatively easy to achieve in a center-shafted mallet, but moving the shaft to the heel, to create the look of a traditional putter, makes complicated. The shaft axis shifts, and small changes in head shape or mass distribution can break the alignment entirely.

Bettinardi’s Hexperimental #7 and #9 putters feature a modified plumber’s neck with minimal onset that pulls the shaft axis back toward the head’s CG, threading the needle between traditional address appearance and zero-torque mechanics.

The two new models take that solution in different directions. The #7 is a compact mallet with a rectangular cutout in the body. Removing that material pushes mass to the perimeter, raising the moment of inertia (MOI) and making the head more resistant to twisting on off-center contact. It’s a forgiving design for players who want stability but don’t want to look down at an oversized mallet. Meanwhile, the #9 is a wide-body, high-toe blade. It’s taller than a standard blade but recognizable to anyone who has gamed a traditional heel-shafted putter in the last 30 years.

Both are milled from 303 stainless steel, a soft alloy that produces more feel at impact than the harder stainless used in many production putters. The F.I.T. Face milling removes 30 percent of the face material in a precise pattern, thinning the face to soften the sensation at impact.

It’s worth noting what these putters are not. They are not for golfers who are comfortable with a center-shafted design and already benefitting from Simply Balanced. And players with a straight-back, straight-through stroke may find a heel-shafted putter odd to see in the address position because heel-shafted designs are traditionally built for arcing strokes. Still, the zero-torque weighting works with, not against, any stroke type.

At $550, these are limited-edition pieces positioned above Bettinardi’s standard lineup. For players who have been waiting for Simply Balanced in a shape they recognize, they could be a compelling option.
