Titleist’s new GTS drivers use a thermoform polymer body to boost performance in three models that each have new levels of adjustability.

Gear: Titleist GTS2, GTS3 and GTS4 drivers

Price: $699 each with Project X Titan, Mitsubishi Tensei CK Blue, or Tensei CK White shaft and Titleist Universal 360 grip.

Available: May 13 (Fittings), June 11 (In Stores)

Who it’s for: Golfers who want more speed and distance, with greater adjustability and improved stability across the board.

What you should know: The Titleist GTS drivers replace nearly 60 percent of the head’s surface area with a thermoform polymer body, freeing up enough discretionary weight to boost speed, stability and adjustability.

The Deep Dive: Eight years is a long time to wait for a driver, but it’s roughly how long it took Titleist to go from discovering the thermoform polymer material (TPM) that is at the heart of the GTS family to actually manufacturing a driver built around it, at scale, to the brand’s standards. The GT drivers, launched in 2024, were a meaningful advancement over the TSi drivers, but they were also a proof of concept for TPM. It was the first time Titleist used the material in a driver, designing the crown that wrapped into the heel and toe areas with it. With the GTS, the concepts Titleist envisioned nearly a decade ago have been fully realized.

The “S” in GTS stands for speed, but it could also stand for stability even though those two things tend to fight each other in driver design. The GTS addresses that challenge by replacing the entire rear portion of the head, not just the crown, with its proprietary polymer.

The GT used 13 grams of TPM in the crown, but the GTS uses 26 in the crown sides and sole. In all, it’s nearly 60 percent of the head’s surface area, but accounts for only 13 percent of its mass. Using TPM instead of titanium frees up 27 to 30 grams of discretionary weight per model.

That reclaimed mass gets redistributed low and forward for ball speed, and in the back for a higher moment of inertia (MOI). The stainless steel housing that holds the back weight in every GTS model is also a concentrated mass element.

The aerodynamic head shapes benefit from the same construction because the lighter body panels allowed Titleist to raise the rear of the club higher, reducing drag in ways that weren’t previously possible, without elevated the CG location.

The face has been updated as well. Speed Ring, which was introduced in the GT drivers, still stiffens the perimeter of the hitting area to allow more deflection at center, but the top of the inner-facing ring is now open at the top, like horseshoe, to enhance performance on high strikes.

Titleist GTS2

The GTS2 is a 460cc head with the 16-position SureFit hosel that is available in 8, 9, 10 and 11-degree models for right- and left-handed players.

The most stable of the three models, it comes standard with a flat 11-gram weight in the forward port and a 5-gram weight in the back. That will confuse some people. Previous “2” models used a single rear weight to maximize MOI. Here, the heavier weight is up front.

Why? In past titanium builds, there was an internal mass pad forward in the sole, but in the GTS2, that pad is gone. The concentrated 11-gram weight in the front reproduces the CG position of the GT2 without the pad, while the rear weight boosts the MOI. The net result is same CG as before, with significantly higher stability.

Swap the weights — heavy to the back, light to the front — and CG shifts 2.5 millimeters rearward while MOI climbs, providing even more resistance to twisting on off-center hits, more spin and a higher launch angle without a reduction in ball-speed.

Titleist GTS3

The GTS3 is a 460cc head with the SureFit hosel, available in the same loft options as the GTS2. It retains its five-position front track that comes standard with an 8-gram weight to allow players and fitters to create a draw and fade bias.

What’s new is the 5-gram flat weight in the back, which is something the “3” drivers have never had. In stock configuration it delivers more speed from aerodynamics and the updated face, plus more stable from the elevated MOI.

Move the heavier weight to the back, and CG shifts rearward by 2 millimeters, adding 150 to 200 RPMs of spin, a higher launch angle and more stability.

Titleist GTS4

Titleist’s “4” drivers have always been low-spin options and niche products. While the GT4 was a 430cc head and less unforgiving, the GTS4 is 460cc and has a shallower profile.

While the size has been increased, the most interesting new feature of the GTS4 is the addition of directional adjustability for the first time. The GTS4 comes standard with an 8-gram weight on a five-position front track, plus a 5-gram rear flat weight. No “4” model has ever offered heel-to-toe CG movement. For players who need spin reduction, but who also need shot-shape control, it’s a genuine unlock.

The GTS4 is available in 8, 9 and 10-degree models with the SureFit hosel.

KBS Tour V-X Lite: Stability Like Never Before https://golfingnetworks.com/kbs-tour-v-x-lite-stability-like-never-before/ https://golfingnetworks.com/kbs-tour-v-x-lite-stability-like-never-before/#respond Fri, 08 May 2026 11:50:43 +0000 https://golfingnetworks.com/kbs-tour-v-x-lite-stability-like-never-before/

The KBS Tour V-X Lite brings a new level of stability to lightweight, high-performance steel iron shafts. Designed for the “Next Generation” player, it sits firmly in the Players’ Model category and is built around the three pillars of the KBS brand feel.

The V-X Lite runs over one full flex stiffer than any shaft in its category, with a weight-to-strength ratio nearly 20% higher than any iron shaft ever designed. That stiffness reduces shaft movement at impact, producing a truer ball flight less affected by shaft bending and best-in-category dispersion and distance as a result.

Engineered for faster swing speeds, the V-X Lite delivers the control and workability serious players demand without sacrificing the signature KBS feel.

TaylorMade SYSTM2 putters blend milled feel with modern stability https://golfingnetworks.com/taylormade-systm2-putters-blend-milled-feel-with-modern-stability/ https://golfingnetworks.com/taylormade-systm2-putters-blend-milled-feel-with-modern-stability/#respond Tue, 14 Apr 2026 03:39:46 +0000 https://golfingnetworks.com/taylormade-systm2-putters-blend-milled-feel-with-modern-stability/

TaylorMade’s SYSTM2 putters bring milled feel, stroke-fitting options and a different approach than Spider.

Gear: TaylorMade SYSTM2 putters

Price: $249.99 each

Specs: Metal injection molded 304 stainless steel. Available 34” and 35”

Available: March 26

Who it’s for: Golfers who prefer a traditional look and responsive feel but still want modern stability and options that match how they move the putter.

What you should know: SYSTM2 is a fully milled lineup that blends classic shapes and milled feel with modern weighting in a range of blades and mid-mallets.

The Deep Dive: As popular as the multi-material TaylorMade Spider putters have become, there will always be a meaningful group of golfers who want a milled putter. For them, feel is everything. At impact, they want to know exactly what the club is doing and where on the face the ball was struck. No layers, no guesswork, just feedback.

TaylorMade had those golfers in mind when it developed the new SYSTM2 line. These blades and mid-mallets feel less like a reaction to trends and more like a return to something foundational.

The starting point SYSTM2 is material. Each head is crafted from soft, metal injection molded, 304 stainless steel. It gives the putters a quieter, more responsive feel at impact. For golfers who rely on touch as well as mechanics, it provides the kind of feedback that can make it easier to control distance, especially on long-range putts.

From there, the story becomes one of precision. The faces are fly-cut and then finished with a secondary milling process that creates grooves at a carefully controlled depth. The goal is consistency. When the ball comes off the face, whether from the center or slightly off, the roll is meant to behave in a predictable way.

TaylorMade uses metal injection molding to shape the heads in a way that allows weight to be repositioned more efficiently. By pulling mass away from the center and moving it toward the edges, the putters gain stability without losing their compact appearance. The result is a design that helps the head stay more stable through impact, even if the strike is not perfect.

At address, the SYST2 putters present a look that feels familiar but guided. The two-tone finish creates a natural contrast between the front and back portions of each head, framing the ball in a way that helps your eyes square the face and trust the line more easily.

The Soto, Juno and Del Monte blades offer three variations on a theme. The Soto leans softer in its shaping, the Juno introduces more defined edges, and the Del Monte has been stretched into a wider profile that adds a bit more stability through a deeper center of gravity and higher MOI.

The Bandon and Ardmore are mid-mallets, a putter style that has grown in popularity over the last decade. They sit between traditional blades and larger mallets, offering a balance of control and forgiveness. Both shapes are available with either an L-Neck or a single bend shaft, which allows golfers to match the putter to the way they naturally move it. Players with more arc in their stroke can let the toe rotate, while those who prefer a straighter motion can keep the face more stable.

SYSTM2 putters stands in contrast to the Spider family, which has become one of the defining putter lines in the game. Spider putters are built around stability, with roll-enhancing face inserts, slightly-larger shapes, multi-material construction and higher MOI designs aimed at helping golfers reduce face movement and create a more repeatable stroke.

SYSTM2 is different. The heads are more compact, the feedback is more immediate and the designs encourage golfers to work with their natural tendencies instead of minimizing their effects. Where Spider is often about making the stroke simpler and overcoming shortcomings, SYSTM2 is about making it more precise.

For some golfers, especially those who have struggled with consistency, Spider will continue to make more sense. For others who want to feel the strike, shape the stroke and rely on feedback, SYSTM2 offers a different kind of confidence.

In other words, SYSTM2 is not a replacement. It is another answer.

Cobra OPTM fairway woods emphasize launch, stability and control https://golfingnetworks.com/cobra-optm-fairway-woods-emphasize-launch-stability-and-control/ https://golfingnetworks.com/cobra-optm-fairway-woods-emphasize-launch-stability-and-control/#respond Wed, 28 Jan 2026 06:01:10 +0000 https://golfingnetworks.com/cobra-optm-fairway-woods-emphasize-launch-stability-and-control/

Cobra OPTM fairway woods use refined weighting and face design to deliver higher launch, tighter dispersion and reliable distance off the tee or turf.

play

  • Cobra is releasing three new OPTM fairway woods designed for different types of golfers.
  • The new models aim to increase ball speed and forgiveness by using advanced internal weighting and shaping.
  • Each club features a lightweight carbon-fiber crown and an adjustable hosel for fine-tuning performance.

Gear: Cobra OPTM LS, OPTM X, OPTM Max fairway woods

Price: $469 (LS), $369 (X, Max) with Mitsubishi Kai’li shaft and Cobra Lamkin Crossline grips

Specs: Titanium construction (LS) and stainless-steel chassis with carbon-fiber, internal weights and Future Fit 33 adjustable hosel.

Available: Jan. 13 (pre-sale), Jan. 20 (in stores)

Who it’s for: Golfers who want more ball speed and forgiveness from the fairway or off the tee.

What you should know: The OPTM fairway woods build on last season’s DS-Adapt family but push forgiveness and accuracy further by re-engineering the internal structure using Cobra’s new POI shaping. Every model in the line features the Future Fit 33 hosel, the refined 15-zone variable-thickness face and carefully placed weight to maintain ball speed and tighten dispersion.

The Deep Dive: There’s always been a balancing act in fairway-wood design between distance and forgiveness. Shifting the center of gravity (CG) forward can increase ball speed and boost distance, but clubs like that can be difficult to control and challenging for some golfers to hit high in the air. However, while pushing the CG back can enhance stability and make it easier to get shots airborne, it can sacrifice speed, and for some players, generate excessive spin and height.

Cobra’s three new OPTM fairway woods aim to erase that trade-off. Each is designed with a different player in mind, but they all blend aerodynamic shaping with internal weights and geometries that tighten dispersion without giving up ball speed.

Each OPTM fairway wood has a lightweight carbon-fiber crown that frees up mass, which engineers reposition down in the head. This lowers the center of gravity (CG) location, making it easier to launch shots from tight lies while increasing stability.

Each of the clubs also boasts Cobra’s 15-zone H.O.T. Face (H.O.T. stands for Highly Optimized Topology). This variable-thickness pattern was mapped using artificial intelligence to maintain ball speed across a wider area, particularly low on the face where many fairway-wood strikes occur.

Finally, each OPTM fairway wood has a Future Fit 33 hosel. This system debuted in 2025 with the release of the DS-Adapt woodsand offers 33 loft-and-lie combinations, including 2 degrees of movement in any direction. That allows fitters to fine-tune trajectory, spin and bias for smoother gapping through the bag.

OPTM LS (14.5, 16, 17.5 degrees) – Compact and powerful, the LS (which stands for low spin) is designed for fast-swinging golfers who want to create a piercing ball flight. It features a titanium face and body, which let Cobra make the face even thinner, so it can flex more efficiently at impact while saving even more weight. Much of the discretionary mass was repurposed in the form of a large tungsten weight located behind the face. It pushes the CG forward for low spin and a lower launch angle, while a single rear weight maintains forgiveness. The LS has three weight ports and comes standard with a 14-, 11- and 3-gram weight, so the club can be configured with a draw, a fade bias, or a more-forgiving setup with the 14-gram weight in the back, the 11-gram weight in the heel and the 3-gram weight in the toe.

OPTM X (15.5, 16.5, 18, 21, 24 degrees) – The most versatile of the group, the OPTM X features a stainless-steel chassis and a carbon crown to deliver high-launching, mid-spin flight. Its CG sits slightly farther back than the LS to promote forgiveness and consistent carry. The X version has two movable weights (11 and 3 grams) with ports in the back and toe areas. This version offers the most loft options and will likely be the ideal model for the widest range of players.

OPTM Max (15.5, 18.5, 21.5, 24.5 degrees) – Designed for golfers who need help squaring the face, the Max has a 14-gram weight in the back-heel and a 3-gram weight in the front-heel. The result is higher launch, added spin and a built-in draw bias that helps reduce the severity of a slice.

Aesthetically, the OPTM fairways carry the same understated design language introduced with the OPTM drivers—black for LS, blue for X and gray for Max. The look is sleek and performance-first, a big contrast to the bright color palettes Cobra once favored.

At the engineering level, the OPTM fairway woods differ most in how they manage weight and stability compared with last season’s DS-Adapt series. The older line relied heavily on front-to-back tungsten placement and adjustable sole weights to tune spin, while the new OPTM heads also utilize shaping to reduce twisting through impact. That structural change helps each model maintain speed and accuracy across a larger portion of the face, producing tighter dispersion and a more consistent flight pattern for every type of player.

Cobra OPTM drivers emphasize stability, speed and accuracy https://golfingnetworks.com/cobra-optm-drivers-emphasize-stability-speed-and-accuracy/ https://golfingnetworks.com/cobra-optm-drivers-emphasize-stability-speed-and-accuracy/#respond Mon, 26 Jan 2026 12:05:55 +0000 https://golfingnetworks.com/cobra-optm-drivers-emphasize-stability-speed-and-accuracy/

Cobra’s OPTM drivers use refined internal weighting and face design to help golfers hit straighter tee shots without giving up ball speed.

play

  • Cobra has released its new OPTM line of drivers, which includes four distinct models: X, LS, Max-K, and Max-D.
  • The OPTM family is designed to be Cobra’s most stable and accurate driver line by maximizing moment of inertia (MOI).
  • Each driver features a 460cc titanium head, carbon-fiber components, and a highly adjustable hosel.
  • The four models are tailored for different player needs, from low-spin performance to maximum forgiveness and draw bias.

Gear: Cobra OPTM X, LS, Max-K and Max-D drivers

Price: $599 each with Mitsubishi Kai’li or Project X Denali shaft and Cobra Lamkin Crossline grips

Specs: 460cc titanium construction with variable-thickness face, 33-position adjustable hosel, and moveable weights

Available: Jan. 13 (pre-sale), Jan. 20 (in stores)

Who it’s for: Golfers who want a long, highly-adjustable driver that not only protects ball speed in off-center hits, but also enhances accuracy over a larger portion of the hitting area.

What you should know: The OPTM family represents Cobra’s most stable, most accurate driver line to date, highlighted by aerodynamic shaping, refined weight distribution and a high level of adjustability.

The Deep Dive: Over the past few seasons, several golf equipment companies have reinforced the importance of maximizing the moment of inertia (MOI) to make drivers more stable on off-center hits and help them retain ball speed when you miss the center of the face. Savvy golfers know there are actually two MOIs: one that measures how much the club twists on heel-toe misses (MOI-Y) and another that measures how the club reacts when you miss high or low (MOI-X). When manufacturers maximize both, the result is a driver with a combined MOI over 10,000 g-cm², and you’ve got a 10K driver. An ultra-stable, straight-shooting club.

With the new OPTM family, Cobra wants to take things a step further and also tighten dispersion off the tee. To do that, the company’s engineers studied how side-to-side and up-and-down twisting interacts, rather than just look at them individually. Then they developed a driver line that delivers high MOI while keeping deformation levels to a minimum. The goal, in other words, was to create the optimal driver, and they wound up building OPTM.

All four OPTM drivers are 460 cc and feature large carbon-fiber crowns and carbon-fiber sole panels to create discretionary weight. Each model is designed to be as aerodynamic as possible, they have unique shapes because the needs of players who will be using the X, LS, Max-K, and Max-D will differ.

Every driver also includes Cobra’s 15-zone, variable-thickness H.O.T. Face design and the Future Fit 33 hosel, which provides 33 adjustable combinations of loft and lie—including up to 2 degrees of movement in any direction—so players and fitters can fine-tune launch and spin conditions.

  • OPTM LS (9 degrees, 10.5 degrees) – The most aerodynamic driver in the family, featuring the deepest face, shortest front-to-back profile and a fade bias. It’s built for fast-swinging golfers who need a low-spin, low-launch setup. The LS includes three adjustable weights: an 11-gram weight in the back heel, a 7-gram weight in the toe, and a 3-gram weight in the rear. In any configuration, accomplished players should notice a more solid feel at impact and tighter spin consistency across the face.

  • OPTM X (9 degrees, 10.5 degrees) – This model is expected to fit the widest range of players. The CG sits slightly farther back than in the LS, creating a touch more launch and forgiveness. The X has two moveable weights—an 11-gram and a 3-gram—with ports in the toe and back. Placing the heavier weight in the back increases launch and spin, while moving it forward promotes a lower-spinning, slightly fade-biased flight.
  • OPTM Max-K (9 degrees, 10.5 degrees, 12 degrees) – This is the most stable driver in the lineup, with the CG pushed as far back as possible. With a single 11-gram weight in the rear, it maximizes MOI, which is well above 10,000 g-cm². Cobra feels the Max-K is the ultimate 10K driver for golfers who need maximum help on off-center hits.
  • OPTM Max-D (10.5 degrees, 12 degrees) – As the name implies, the D stands for draw. This driver has a fixed 11-gram heel weight, along with additional internal heel-side mass to help golfers who fight a slice by encouraging the clubface to square at impact.

Yes, there was a time when Cobra drivers were as colorful as holiday decorations, but those days are long gone. Visually, the OPTM lineup maintains the clean, performance-first aesthetic Cobra established several years ago, using subtle color coding—black for LS, blue for X, gray for Max-K and red for Max-D.
