Motocaddy has unveiled an upgraded version of its SE electric trolley for 2026, bringing a fresh look and enhanced performance to the brand’s most accessible model.

The latest SE combines automotive inspired styling with the reliability that has made the company a market leader, while keeping an attractive price point for golfers moving into electric trolleys.

Designed for effortless walking

The 2026 SE introduces Motocaddy’s CLICK ‘N’ CONNECT cable free lithium battery system, complete with patented auto disconnect that powers off the trolley when folded.

A pop up charging port allows simple on board charging, while a high power 28V system and whisper quiet 230W motor deliver smooth and efficient performance across all terrain.

Nine speed settings help golfers match their natural walking pace, and ambidextrous controls make operation easy for both left and right handed players.

Faster folding and stronger build

Convenience has been central to the redesign. The trolley features the brand’s quickest one step folding mechanism, enabling set up and pack down in seconds.

Inverting wheels reduce the folded footprint for easier storage and transport, while oversize tubing improves handle stability and frame strength.

Additional touches include a USB charging port for devices during the round, LED power and battery indicators, a pause and resume function, and full EASILOCK compatibility for secure strap free attachment of any Motocaddy bag.

My colleague, Johnny Wunder, recently joined Jake Knapp at Scottsdale National to hit every iron in the PXG lineup, and they came away with some really cool findings about ball speed. This is a wonderful metric for every golfer to look at when they’re picking out new irons, and I want to talk about how to use ball speed when choosing what irons you want to put in your bag.

What’s the “target” ball speed?

The PGA Tour average for a 7-iron is right around 123 mph of ball speed. The “average” golfer is closer to 115 mph if they’re swinging between 75-80 mph. Tour players, like Knapp, obviously swing faster but also are aided by single-piece irons, whereas most amatuers use an iron that provides a little bit more help.

The truth is, there really is no “standard” speed that fitters try to achieve for every golfer. Instead, we try to match up speed, peak, height and spin to dial a player in. Remember, though, speed creates spin and height. Regardless of loft, which is where most golfers get tripped up, having something with a lower CG that produces a higher ball speed will inherently spin the ball a touch more and launch the ball higher.

An important metric to think about here is smash factor or efficiency. You typically want your irons to live in the 1.35 realm. Even up to 1.40 is completely usable. Many golfers may think that trying to get a set of irons close to the legal limit of 1.51 would be the most useful, but you’ll start to run into playability issues.

What we want to try to find is a set of irons that still have a usable level of control built into them. That’s where having a “baseline” speed to target in a fitting can actually help.

The best example I can provide is a good ball-striker who’s losing speed. I know plenty of senior-aged golfers that still strike the ball out of the middle, but their 7-iron has lost 15 to 20 yards over the years, and they want to bring back their “old distances.” This is where the difference between a PXG CB and a PXG Gen8 T can be useful — but going to something like a P or an XP could be too much.

Good ball-strikers still want control with their clubs. They want to be able to shape shots, change windows and feel like a shot-maker. The faster ball speeds we produce, with less spin and more height, the more control gets lost. So for a player who can still hit the ball out of the middle but may be on the lower end of swing speed, something like the T would be a perfect compromise. Even a combo set of CB in the bottom and T in the top could make these players feel very comfortable.

Speed throughout the set

Speaking of combo sets, with PXG’s Gen8 lineup being very combo set-friendly, we need to discuss the concept of ball speed gapping in a set of irons, and why a combo set could be necessary.

Typically we’re looking for about 5 mph of ball speed in between irons. If you notice in the video with Johnny and Knapp, he hit each 7-iron iron with about a 5 mph gap in speed, while hitting the ball higher with each progressive model getting more forgiving. He started with about 135 mph in his ST irons, as a super-high-speed player, and up to 154+ in the better-player XP irons toward the end.

This speaks to loft and CG packages, but it’s also a great way to look at your entire set. If you find a really comfortable 7-iron at 115 mph of ball speed for example, you’d want your 5-iron to live around 125 mph. If you go to hit the same iron model in the 5-iron and you find yourself being a couple miles an hour short, that’s when it’s logical to move up into the next model.

My favorite combo sets are actually for higher-handicap players at lower speeds. Something like the Gen8 P and the Gen8 XP would be a great option for players who can still strike the ball well, and who don’t want to jump into hybrids or fairway woods too soon.

By playing a set of P in the bottom of the set and maybe switching over to the XP at the 6- or 5-iron could be a great way to ensure consistent speed gaps through the set. This will usually result in about 10-12-yard carry gaps between irons, but the beauty of focusing on speed is that the speed wont change with loft. So if you need to bend the irons 1º weak or strong for the sake of height and carry, you’ll still be getting everything out of those irons that you’re looking for.

Building on the global acclaim earned over the past two years for exceptional all-around performance, the latest four-piece urethane constructions deliver enhanced speed, control, durability and feel for elite players.

Staff Model

The Staff Model ball features a compression of 90, which is 10 points softer that the Staff Model X. This ball is designed for the elite golfer who wants the performance of a Tour caliber golf ball but prefers a lower spin rate than a harder urethane ball.

The 2026 Staff Model iteration produces ball velocity, distance, and a lower spin rate (~ 3.5% to 4%) than “harder” premium urethane balls on both driver and irons. The ball utilises a soft-compression rubber core, a softer inner mantle layer to control driver spin, a hard ionomer outer mantle layer for velocity and distance, and a thin, soft cast urethane cover layer for exceptional spin on approach shots.

The dimple pattern of the Staff Model ball comprises 362 dimples arranged in a modified hexahedral pattern. The dimple pattern is designed to produce the optimum flight trajectory to maximise distance performance.

Staff Model X

The new Staff Model X remains the World’s Fastest Urethane golf ball but now offers a softer feel and sound to address feedback from Wilson Tour professionals.

This was achieved with a construction comprising a small, mid-compression core, a soft fatty-acid modified terpolymer inner mantle layer, an extra-stiff ionomer outer cover layer, and an ultra-thin cast urethane cover.

The softer compression core, compared to the previous Staff Model X, reduces driver spin rate, the soft inner mantle layer provides a combination of velocity and feel/sound, the stiff outer mantle layer provides ball velocity, and a thin, soft cast urethane cover combines with the outer mantle layer to provide exceptional spin on approach shots.

The dimple pattern of the Staff Model X is a 362 hexagonal seamless dimple pattern designed to produce the optimum flight trajectory to maximise distance performance.

For added shelf appeal to global golfers, both Staff Model balls incorporate new eye-catching premium packaging to match its on-course performance.

TRK360

WHAT WILSON SAY

Ben Hanser, CAD Engineer at Wilson Golf, said the range represents a significant step forward for the brand.

He explained that Wilson has drawn heavily on its iron heritage while applying modern design techniques to create what he believes is the strongest iron family the company has ever produced.

Hanser added that the introduction of the Staff Model XB allows more golfers to fit into the range, while still maintaining a consistent look and feel across all three models.

Crafted from forged 8620 carbon steel, one of the softest materials used in iron construction, the new Staff Model irons are designed to deliver excellent workability and immediate feedback at impact.

A precision milled face and scoreline pattern promotes longer ball to face contact for more consistent spin and improved stopping power.

Wilson’s Fluid Feel Technology redistributes mass towards the centre of the face, while the centre of gravity has been carefully positioned away from the heel to enhance overall performance.

Staff Model XB

The Staff Model XB is an all new Players Performance iron featuring a forged hollow body construction designed to increase face flexion for higher ball speeds.

The design also delivers increased moment of inertia and precise centre of gravity placement, while maintaining a compact, tour inspired look thanks to minimal offset and a thin topline.

Urethane fills the hollow body to dampen vibrations and create a crisp, clean sound at impact. A hidden vent port beneath the shield medallion ensures a seamless appearance across the back and toe of the club.

Advanced computer based simulations and topology optimisation played a central role in the development of the XB.

Wilson engineers analysed the body and face structure to optimise feel, sound and performance, creating unique internal rib configurations for each loft.

Hanser said topology optimisation allowed the team to identify exactly where internal mass should be placed to maximise performance, while sound and feel were a major priority in the hollow body design.

The optimised construction combines engineered rib supports, a parabolic mass pad and precisely located tungsten weighting to deliver an ideal centre of gravity and high moment of inertia in a slim profile.

The face design has also been optimised to maximise performance across the entire hitting area, with simulations focusing on consistent ball speed, spin and launch from a range of strike locations.

This helps reduce dispersion and maintain performance on both centre strikes and mishits.

Staff Model Blade

Designed for elite ball strikers, the Staff Model Blade remains the flagship iron in the Wilson lineup and continues to be trusted by Tour professionals worldwide.

For 2026, the blade features refined shaping to deliver exceptional control.

A variable hosel length improves mass distribution and ensures visual consistency with the CB and XB models.

The blade length has been shortened and offset reduced to create a more compact profile and a modern tour inspired appearance.

Staff Model CB

The Staff Model CB offers a modern cavity back design that balances forgiveness and feel. Shaped to closely mirror the Staff Model Blade, the CB has benefited from extensive feedback from Tour professionals.

Compared to the previous generation, the head has been shortened and its edges softened to better align with the Blade’s premium profile.

Hosel length now matches the Blade for improved visual consistency, while an enhanced hosel to face transition delivers a cleaner look.
